The time has come for us to bid 2 Sketches 4 You a fond farewell. After much consideration (and deliberation) we have decided that it is time to hang up our sketches. The past two years have been the most amazing experience imaginable. We have met so many wonderful crafters, many of you, becoming close personal friends. We have immensely enjoyed your creativity, inspiration and support and it is with somewhat trepidation and mixed feelings that we say goodbye and enter new uncharted territories in the crafting industry. Fun & exciting events lie ahead of us and we hope to run into each and everyone of you along the way!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything - and we mean everything! Your cards, emails, blog posts, comments and loyalty mean the world to us. You are amazing and we are so proud and honored to be a part of this community - YOU are 2 Sketches 4 You and we love you for that!

My oh my what a crazy wonderful time of year this is. The weather here in Colorado is so beautiful and mild which enables us to enjoy Fall for just a little longer before Winter hits us with all its glory. There is something about this time of year that brings out so much creativity in people too. Our very own gallery was filled to the brim with gorgeousness which always makes it hard to pick a winner but I did find one card that I think you will all agree deserves to carry the honor this week and then there are the Fab 5! which are all varied in style but who will inspire you to get your craft on!!!

What a whirlwind week we had and thinking back nothing stood out as being extra eventful. Is it just me or are we all running around this time of year busy with everything and anything? I could not believe it when I checked my calendar and saw that it was Thanksgiving weekend the weekend after next. Wow! I thought I had at least a few more weeks *lol* I had better get a menu plan going and get that turkey!

When we are busy and on limited free time schedules Card Kits are the answer for sure! Happy Halloween for yesterday everyone. I am back! Phewww after a week off I am ready to get back into the creative limelight again. My family and I are all moved, mostly unpacked and settled. I LOVE my new house and feel so lucky and fortunate to have a great friend like Kazan to substitute for me. Thanks Kazan!

We are sadly saying goodbye to 3 of our beloved designers today. We had so much fun with these ladies and their talent is outstanding and will be greatly missed.

The official countdown to Halloween has begun in our household. Our mantel is dressed, the door is spooked up and the pumpkin patiently awaits carving. My hubby and I have decided that this year we will dress up with the girls (feeling a bit of pressure from the other parents in our group) so now to find that perfect costume for me! Eeeaak. My youngest saw a huge furry duck costume in Target and suggested I be a giant Mommy Duck!!! mmmmm I am thinking that might be my backup plan ;) but in the meantime you all will not need a back-up plan to get creative because we have a ton of inspiration in the gallery as well as some draw dropping cards to feature this week!

This week I challenged the 2S4Y Design Team to get a little creative with their cardmaking skills and work in some sort of decorative edge on their sample card. The tools we have available to us to jazz up our cards are so varied and I bet many of you have a variety within arms reach on your craft table. Idea's that come to mind to create a schmancy edge are decorative scissors, border punches, die templates, pre-cut templates etc and if all else fails - trace your own design and trim by hand. Over the next few weeks Laura and I will pay special attention to these winners and the gallery in general. Sometime late October we will host a challenge selecting our newest Design Team members from the Card of the Week winner (note: you read right - we will be looking for more than one designer so we may just have more than one COTW winner!!!!) Can you feel it? The cooler nights, a crisper morning air and just an all round shift that comes with the Season's changing. It is wonderful living in a State that does have defined Seasons - I grew up in South Africa and it seems in our part of the country we had Winter and Summer only. Leaves have started to change which is always something to look forward to since one of the most favorite pastimes for our family is to visit the Rocky Mountains and see the changing Aspen. Fall also makes me more adventurous in the kitchen and with my crafting - basically the change from Summer to Winter brings out the homebody in me :) So it was with great enthusiasm that I sat down and played with Starving Artistamps latest sets: Backlit Blooms. These HUGE stamp sets (about 5.75" tall) can be used as is - to make super jumbo sized cards or like I did, a framed home decor project. You can use part of the stamp images to create smaller or standard cards. Our Design Team had fun playing with their samples. Here are their interpretations of the sketch using Starving Artistamps

I am sure you are all wondering where I am :) Well here in the States we are celebrating Labor Day weekend which is our last Hoorah of Summer and this family has been busy - reeeeaally busy. I did want to take the time to comment on all your amazing cards so I took a little R&R for myself this morning - sat down with my coffee and laptop and just oogled over the gallery. This has been my Crafty Spa Day - Wow! You all know how to rock a sketch.

Courtney Baker designed this week's Bonus Sketch and Card. I love how strikingly simple this sketch is with the large solid panel across the middle. My family survived the first week back to school. Getting back into the routine of thing is always refreshing but at the same time it can be exhausting. I am looking forward to the cool down of Fall, season changes are also welcoming.

Sunday's we reveal Card of the Week here at 2S4Y which means we have had a week of fun and inspiration in the gallery. It is so hard picking just one card and the Fab 5! This week is no exception as we try to narrow down 6 cards from a possible 14 that stood out with just that extra little something. Putting my finger on what that little extra something is, is not easy. The cards we select make us go wow! the minute we open your blog page - it may be clean and simple, detailed and shabby or simply so well made that the craftsmanship makes it worthy to be a winner. Winning, however is only part of the journey. We greatly appreciate you sharing your talents with us each week and simply just hanging out with us. This has become a community of friends and that makes us a really fun group of winners - all of us!

I love cards that make you want to take second, third even forth look. Cards that look simple at first glance and then you see the details. Amy's card has all of that and then some. I cannot believe we are in the middle of August already!!! I had so much planned for myself and my family over the Summer and now it's back to school, fall clothes shopping and believe it or not I saw Christmas decorations in a store!!! Eeeeaaak. We are heading full steam into Card Making Season. From now onwards it seems we need a card for something new each week including back to school cards, thank you, birthday, baby, and then not to even mention Halloween, Thanks Giving and Christmas Cards!!! Thank goodness we can gather here every week and catch up on our cardmaking lists. I needed a card for a friend who is fixing up her home and thought this image would make the perfect tag for her housewarming gift. That is the beauty of sketches because whether you need a card for Christmas or Baby you can always count on a sketch to provide the basis to build your creation.
